I fought against rules most of my life, and have had many run-ins with established conventions and regulations, and as a creative songwriter I know that you are probably not so big on rules yourself. I generally like to think more in terms of flexible Guidelines and Suggestions. But this is one that I would commit to memory as a Rule.
Rule Number One of Great Songwriting: Your New Song is Only a Rough Draft.
Writing a song in one sitting, and then immediately adding it to your set list is a recipe for creating songs that listeners will find very unappealing. A number of my students have done this same thing and it is a major problem.
It could take up quite a bit of recording time, and additional money, to have your producer help edit the song after you are already inside the recording studio. Often, before a song can be recorded, they will require a lot of polishing to take them to a professional level. Another thing is that low quality songs could put off producers, and you might find it difficult to get someone to work with you and your material.
Occasionally you will get lucky and write a great song the first time, if you do a lot of writing, but occasionally people who but lottery tickets on a regular basis will win some money also.
One should always consider that a good amount of editing would be needed to make a song into the best one it could be. Before any songwriter can build a list of hit songs, he has to put a lot of work into editing his masterpieces. It is never a good idea to scrap editing for the sake of sentimentality about that initial creative spark which inspired the song. Build that spark into a burning blaze of beautiful music.
Professional Songwriters will sometimes spend the same amount of time as amateurs with the initial writing phase, but they will think of it as a Rough Draft. The stock market of the last ten years has been a wild ride. Let’s take a few moments to reflect on just how crazy things have been during this time. This has been a very memorable decade as far as the financial markets are concerned.
Just ten years ago, things were better than they had ever been in the stock market. Just about everything was at an all time high, and things showed no signs of slowing down. People were buying things blindly, despite the fact that P/E ratios were significantly higher than they had ever been.
People were doubling their money within months, and overnight millionaires were born. Just about everyone out there was trading stocks, and many quit their jobs for the sake of day trading. CNBC was a fixture on television sets around the country.
The NASDAQ’s all-time high of over 5,000 still seems surreal today, and things quickly corrected themselves. Many stocks were fractions of their previous high just months after things peaked.
Within the span of a year and a half, things went from glory to gloom. The fall of 2001 was the low point of the market during the beginning of the decade, as some major declines took place after the terrorist attacks on our homeland. The state of the economy was very uncertain.
A rebuilding mode set in during the next few years, and some steady gains followed through 2006, at which point some of the indexes once again set new records. Investors were optimistic about market conditions and money was beginning to flow back in.
At the same time, oil prices hit all-time highs, and things like forex trading became extremely popular. The mania was back and everyone wanted to be a part of it.
The years of 2008 and 2009 were sour ones in the financial world. While the forex money continued to pour in, the rest of the markets experienced a downturn that crippled millions of investors. Can we rebound from here? We may very well be in the midst of that now.

I came across a magazine from the 1990′s recently. After paging through the funky clothing, ratted hair, and recipes swimming in fat, I found myself reading an article about how to get out from under credit card debt. Curious to see if the debt relief world has changed in the last decade or so, I read on. Back in the 1990′s when credit was king, there would have to be different strategies for reducing personal credit, or at least, different attitudes, right?
Surprisingly, basic credit card reduction principles haven’t changed very much since 1992. You might think that during times of loose credit that debt reduction would be different than in times of tight credit. However, it appears my assumptions were mistaken.
The basic principles of financial freedom don’t change over time. Live within your means and put some money aside each month. Throughout the last 10 to 15 years we have become a credit card dependent people, using credit cards for ordinary, everyday items.
Debt relief tips didn’t get much notice in the 90′s, but I’m sure there are many people in today’s world that need solid advice for getting out from under their credit burden. We have become too dependent on personal credit cards over the years and now appreciate good, solid advice on how to reduce our debt.
So, what are the basic strategies for a family like yours to get rid of their credit card debt for once and for all? Briefly outlined, here are the steps you need to follow to get on the right track. Amazingly, these 6 steps are just as true today as they were back in 1992:
1) Cut Up Your Credit Cards – Painful as this may be, it’s a crucial first step. Start by cutting up in-store credit cards and work your way up to your major credit cards, then stop. You want to keep one major credit card, meaning a Visa, Master Card, American Express, and the like, for the purpose of booking flights, hotel rooms, and for emergencies. Review your remaining major credit cards, determine which has the lowest interest rate, with no annual fee, and keep that one card. Now, cut up the remaining cards.
2) Do Your Financial Math – Take a good, long look at your income. If you haven’t already created a family budget, this is the time to start one. Map out your monthly household expenses that keep your family sheltered and fed. Take that money, subtract it from your monthly paycheck and you are left with your “disposable income.” That is what you need to know before you take your next step. How much money do you have each month to apply to your credit card debt?
3) Be Brave and Call the Card Companies – This step is considered by many people to be the most difficult, but it is also the most crucial. You won’t get very far making minimum payments as late fees and high interest keep piling up. Get the last statements together and call the credit card company customer service department. Tell them you are going to pay off your balance but it is only possible if the late fees are dropped and the interest is lowered. Credit card companies are looking for every payment they can squeeze out of you, so be ready to negotiate and don’t be intimidated. You are talking to credit card company employees doing their job, and you are doing yours.
4) Get Ready to Sacrifice – Isn’t it great when you get a tax refund or a bonus? This extra money can sure be fun to spend. However, you no longer have that luxury, at least, not yet. You have some serious debt to pay off before you can relax and enjoy your money. Every cent you have that isn’t otherwise needed for household bills must be applied to your credit card debt if you want your plan to work. If you don’t believe me, take a look at what you are still paying in interest even after you’ve gotten a lower interest rate. Do you really want the credit cards to get your money just on interest charged? Your money has greater value when used to reduce the interest on your credit cards.
5) Commit to Your Plan – Paying off your credit card debt this way doesn’t offer any instant gratification. It could take a year or more to see any real benefits. The commercials may tell you that you can be debt free in six months, but that is simply not true. It took you some amount of years to get into debt, it will take you some time to dig your way out. You may see some progress toward your debt-free future in about six months or so, but beware of celebrating too soon. You may feel like treating yourself to an expensive reward, but resist the urge. Just add up all the interest you’ve been paying over the last six months you’ll see that the credit card companies are still enjoying way too much of your money. Skip the splurges and stick to your plan so you’ll once again enjoy your own money.
6) Consider a Debt Consultant Only After Serious Research – In the last decade, debt consultants have blazed a trail for themselves. Offering credit card relief “quickly and painlessly” is often heard in their commercials, but we know that’s not possible. Do careful investigating before you decide to hire a debt consultant. Interview them in person and ask detailed questions like how much of your payment is actually going to the credit card company and how much they keeping. If they tell you not to worry, they’ll take care of everything, you need to stop the interview and keep looking. Any debt consultant that you consider should be checked out with the Better Business Bureau. You may also wish to ask for advice on choosing a debt consultant from reliable family and friends.
When credit became too easy to get, many of us found ourselves with too much credit card debt. Now, we are faced with the unpleasant and difficult task of getting ourselves out of debt. The methods we use to free ourselves from credit card debt are tried-and-true for many years. With determination and a well laid out plan, credit card debt will be a thing of the past and financial stability can finally be yours.

A completely new adventure film has been released in Australia. Beattie is furthermore trying his hand at directing, with Tomorrow When The War Began movie, being his first attempt as a movie director.

The teenagers are perplexed as to what could have taken place, to their family members so sensing some kind of danger, they decide to wait til its dark and go into town to see if they can discover anything. Risking their own safety, they determine soon enough what has occurred; the town has been invaded by an unidentified enemy force, which is holding their families captive at the local showground
The story then continues on to show the teenagers doing whatever they can to wreck havoc on the enemy force using guerrilla tactics to try to free their families and towns people. There’s lots of action and adventure in this picture; and a bit of romance, as we watch the group struggle against enormous odds to try and thwart the enemy forces and survive the surreal predicament they find themselves in.

You might not have heard of these movies. If you’re thinking about the ones based on the Xbox and Playstation games, we’re not talking about those, but rather the trilogy of bizarre action flicks by Japanese crazy-man director Takashi Miike. This trilogy of movie downloads offers just what you’re looking for if you’ve gotten tired of the same old same old from American action flicks and you’re ready for something a little different, and a little strange.
Dead or Alive Part One was designed to be a way to bring together two hot Japanese stars, being Sho Aikawa, the Japanese Pacino, and Riki Takeuchi, the Japanese DeNiro, so Dead or Alive is sort of the Japanese Heat. However, it’s really nothing like Heat, and it’s sort of designed to fix the problem with that movie, being that the ending wasn’t quite the climax most viewers were hoping for.
We won’t spoil that ending for you, but save to say that it certainly solves the whole anti-climax problem. From beginning to end, the whole movie is like one big super climactic showdown. Every minute you’re going to be seeing something you’ve never seen before, something you can’t believe you just saw, and something you wish you hadn’t seen.
The second in the trilogy offers a different sort of approach with the same crazy style. This one recasts the two leads as two new characters. Where the first had the two as rival cop and gangster, this one has them as a pair of hitmen who grew up together and who donate all of their money to fighting diseases in developing countries.
Interestingly, while the movie is very positive in its outlook and portrays its heroes in a positive light, the reality of violence is not simply glossed over. The first is a wild action movie, the second is a little more honest about the weight of violence on a person’s heart.
The third takes the whole series in an all new direction, going into science fiction akin to Blade Runner or Robocop, that sort of cyberpunk, androids and megacorporations sort of theme. It’s probably the least interesting of the trilogy, but it’s really interesting for how it ties the whole thing together.
If you want more after these three flicks, check out Deadly Outlaw Rekka also by Miike. It really takes the same approach to action. Everything is very over the top and surreal, and it’s all pretty exciting.
The trailer for the first movie in the trilogy proudly declares that Miike is the mad dog of Japanese film, and it’s true, that’s not just hyperbole. The guy makes something like four or five movies a year, and has created over one hundred total over the course of his career. Not all of them are of the same quality, but for just one in ten movies to be great, that’s ten great films, which is more than most directors ever get a chance to put out.

Reading into this particular article could mean only one thing: that you’re looking to learn a little more about one of the most impressive films of the 1990s, “American History X”. This really takes root very early in Derek’s life, when he sees his father attempting to put out a fire to save lives, and he is gunned down by a black drug dealer right in front of Derek. A man takes Derek under his wing, and guides him in the knowledge and path of white supremacy. So Derek formed his gang, and they were all too eager to be under his leadership.
You also learn that right now Derek is in prison, serving a sentence for a rather violent crime on a couple of black kids that were trying to break into Derek’s car. He, pistol drawn, came out of the house and shot two of the three culprits. He killed one with the shots. The other is the victim of likely the most violent act ever portrayed on film, where he forced the other man to place his teeth on the curb and he stomps on the back of the man’s head.
However, Derek is required to face his beliefs when he heads off to prison. The tragedy is the ending of the story, which while Danny narrates that hate is too much to keep up with and no one should hate anyone else, he is gunned down by a black kid in the high school’s bathroom. Powerful acting from Edward Norton (Derek) and Edward Furlong (Danny) make this film a movie that you simply have to see at least once.

This was accurate. One reason for the success of this movie was the ever present Jack Nicholson. He brought forth a presence that nobody else could have created. Many people began thinking that he was a mad man in reality due to the realism of his portrayal.
